Let’s visit the places in Central Harlem, between 136th Street and 116th Street, where remarkable women — from A’Lelia Walker to Zora Neale Hurston -- are celebrated. Stops include murals & mosaics, plaques on the sidewalk, statues, and commemorative buildings & street corners. 2 miles slow walking for 2.5-3 hours. Meeting place: 1:15pm on the benches inside the lobby of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture at 135th and Lenox Ave/Malcolm X Blvd (6th Ave) . Nearest subway: 2/3 to 135th.
